Keeping things Honest in 2015
If you ever think that God is not into details, think again!
Leviticus 19:35-37, NKJV
‘You shall do no injustice in judgment, in measurement of length, weight, or volume. You shall have honest scales, honest weights, an honest ephah, and an honest hin: I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.
‘Therefore you shall observe all My statutes and all My judgments, and perform them: I am the LORD.'”
As God establishes the principles that will guide the lives of His people in their businesses, He communicates His expectation that they will deal with each other honestly. In ancient times, it could be easy to use weighted scales, thus overestimating the value of salable goods or undervaluing items that they might purchase. With a scale that was adjusted in such ways, merchants could take advantage of their customers.
But God’s laws brought balance and integrity to such business dealings. While cheating anyone under any conditions would be wrong, doing so as we wear the name “Christian.” is particularly grievous and unacceptable. The way we do business in 2015 is one of the many ways we will bring glory to our Lord.
We should act with honesty in all of our business dealings, our encounters with customers, colleagues and competitors all should demonstrate such an unmatchable integrity that differentiates us. Of all the people with whom they do business, they should trust us the most. We strive to earn the reputation worthy of trust.
Remember God is in the minute details of all aspects of how we conduct business. May we be found wholly acceptable in his sight throughout 2015.
