Many years ago, I selected a life verse. It was Psalm 37:4. “Delight yourself in the law of the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Now, back then, I thought that God was going to give me my desires of my heart. As you grow older, you get a little bit of knowledge, a little bit of wisdom, and it became clear to me He wasn’t talking about my desires. He was talking about His desires that He put into my heart. I’m excited to share with you a thought that is sometimes difficult to understand. As a matter of fact, it has to do with trials and obstacles. It has to do with not understanding, always, why God is allowing certain things into your life. As a matter of fact, if you asked me what was my absolute favorite chapter in the Bible, you would probably never guess it. My favorite chapter is 1 Samuel 9. What is the greatest gift you could give somebody? You ever ask yourself that question? Think of the people you love the most in this world. What is the greatest gift that you could give them, that’s within your power to give them?

I believe it’s this: I believe it’s God’s truth. There’s no greater gift that you can give to somebody than God’s truth. God’s truth explains all the big questions of life. How did we get here? Why are we here? What are we supposed to be doing here? What’s going to happen after we’re here?

It really does answer all those questions right here in this book. Think about the countless hours that philosophers have spent on trying to answer those big questions of life apart from God. Hi, CBF family. I have a confession to make to you. Within just the last 24 hours, I had a major conflict arise at work that just frosted me. I got so angry, I just wanted to leave. I was out of the office. I wanted to return and just butt heads. Have you ever been there? I bet maybe you have. Fortunately, God checked my spirit and stopped me from doing that, from exerting my power and my role, and instead I just stopped to pray.
